Deadly explosion shook Delhi close to the Red Fort Metro Station
Delhi Red Fort Bomb Blast SiteOn the evening of November 10, 2025, a deadly explosion shook Delhi close to the Red Fort Metro Station, leaving at least 12 dead and more than 20 injured. Chaos broke out in one of the city's most historic and densely populated areas at 6:52 p.m. when a white Hyundai i20 that had been parked nearby for hours was driven to a busy traffic signal and abruptly exploded. Nearby cars and e-rickshaws were consumed by fire, and glass and debris were strewn all over the place, creating a terrifying scene of devastation. Invoking anti-terror laws, authorities promptly classified the explosion as a suspected act of terrorism, initiating a significant investigation headed by the National Investigation Agency. According to preliminary findings, the attack involved the use of high-grade explosives, such as ammonium nitrate. Following the arrest of his associates in Faridabad just hours earlier, where cops seized large stocks of bomb-making materials, the main suspect, Dr. Umar Nabi, who is allegedly affiliated with the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed group, may have exploded the bomb prematurely out of panic, preventing a larger attack.

Investigators found that the attack was a component of a larger terror plot that targeted several Delhi landmarks, including Red Fort, India Gate, and shopping centres. Authorities code-named the plot as being similar to the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. While major sites were closed and city security was increased during the investigation, emergency teams evacuated survivors. It's Delhi's fortitude in the face of tragedy is demonstrated by the city's grief for the victims and the government's promise that those responsible for the attack "will not be spared" while the investigation is ongoing.   IMPORTANT LINK
