GOVERNMENT INITIATIVES
Government subsidies topped $20 billion in the past year, with a trillion-yuan fund backing AI-robotics startups; embodied AI entered the 2025 Government Work Report as a priority. Tech giants like Alibaba ($100 million in X Square Robot) and Tencent drive funding, enabling pilots in factories, education, and logistics. The Chinese government has taken several strategic measures to advance humanoid robots, targeting mass production by 2025 and positioning humanoid robots as a key new engine for economic growth by 2027. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released a nine-page report emphasizing the establishment of a humanoid robot innovation system, breakthrough development in core technologies such as the "brain, cerebellum, and limbs," and ensuring a safe supply of critical components by 2025.
Shenzhen allocated 4.5 billion yuan ($630 million) in 2025 subsidies for AI and robotics, including up to 60% vouchers on computing power (max 10 million yuan per firm) and special humanoid robot policies for tech breakthroughs and manufacturing. Wuhan offers up to 5 million yuan to humanoid makers and suppliers meeting sales targets, plus free office space, while Beijing's robotics fund provides up to 30 million yuan for initial products.
